Jun 08, 2018 · These changes did seem to increase my on-throttle pressure slightly, but no change to the hot idle pressure. I suspect that the bottom end of the engine is worn in pretty good, oil analysis done by Blackstone Laboratories shows higher than average amounts of Aluminum, Iron, and Lead in the oil.
I have consistently gotten the "Low Oil Pressure" alarm coming on (over the last 3 months) when I'm offroading and come to a stop and idle. 6 or 7psi throws the alarm. I've seen as low as 5 psi. The dealership has tried to diagnose this problem 3 times. Even contacting "TAC" last time.
An engine with less than 25 pounds of pressure is not okay and a vehicle that flashes a low oil pressure light that tells you to shut off the engine shouldn’t be ignored, but it was. If your low pressure light is steady or appears intermittently, do yourself a favor and just shut off your engine, get your car towed, and count your blessings.
After landing, you will need to have the engine inspected to determine the cause of the engine oil loss, and low engine oil pressure. If it is found that the engine has been operated with oil below the minimum safe level, and/or low oil pressure, the engine will need to be stripped and thoroughly inspected before it can be returned to service.
Aug 04, 2019 · What was interesting was that about half had the engine problems occurred on Original OEM oil, or the "Factory Fill" oil (API SJ/GF-2), before even the FIRST oil change, and other half of the vehicles had problems with other motor oils AFTER they have been changed. The failures on the OEM oil occurred at much lower mileage than the failures ...
Jul 19, 2016 · The oil pressure should be between 30-40psi @ 2400rpm HOT. Remember that the guage in the car isn't a precision instrument, and that providing there's some reading on the guage it's acceptable for the light to flicker on at idle.
Jul 15, 2013 · If it is still fluctuating after changing the O-rings at the bottom of the Oil Filter Cap Tube I read somewhere there is an insert that goes inside of the Oil Pressure Line up on the Gauge end to deal with gauge fluctuation. The above stuff assumes that your Oil Pump, Oil Filter, Oil Pick Up Screen, idle Speed are all working correctly.
